Tolerations and Velcro

Tolerations

Just What Are You Putting Up With In Your Life?

What you put up with in your life keeps you from being yourself, drains you of enormous energy, and basically clutters your life. We put up with all kinds of things because we were taught to be “toleration masters” by our parents, because we are so busy we never even notice, or perhaps because if we ever really slowed down and got clear we just might have to see what we see and know what we know. Pretty scary.

Here is an important shift that may come with the reduction of tolerations:
From reacting to everything in our life to  being at choice.

Ready to jump in and play? List twenty things you are currently putting up with – large or small:

Now that you have your list, here are creative ways to eliminate tolerations, again and again and again:
  • Create a Toleration Free Day one day per month or quarter and get caught up, get cleaned out
  • Create a Toleration Free Morning or Hour each week
  • Do everything you do to completion so you don’t have to keep coming back to it
  • Let it go. Some things are beyond our control or we simply cannot address them at the moment. Be O.K. with that.
  • Use your feelings to continually guide you – feel a rough edge or sticky spot? What might you be able to do to smooth it out?
  • Find a buddy and work through your lists together
  • Make a game out of it and identify some great rewards along the way.
  • Break down the task into tiny, manageable steps.

Identify the Velcro in Your Life and Get Complete

Another huge energy drain may be those areas in your life in which you have unfinished business: that letter you have been struggling over writing, that nagging issue you have been avoiding, the anger you have refused to let go of. Feel the Velcro? The sticky spot that stops you in your tracks? How would it feel for that to be cleaned up once and for all?

List three things that, once complete, will lighten your load:

1.

3.

Who would you have to be, to become and what support might you need in place to get complete?
Become a master at clearing away Tolerations and removing the Velcro in your life and you will clear the way for a more enjoyable, energized life!
